California Society
of Plastic Surgeons Alliance

"Helping kids to lead happier, healthier & more productive lives."

There are thousands of uninsured and under insured children with deformities in the California who have no one to help them. The California Society of Plastic Surgeons Alliance (The Alliance) was founded to help bridge the gap to access plastic surgery for California's financially disadvantaged children who need plastic surgery.

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Alliance is committed to helping physically deformed, uninsured California children get the medical care they need so they can have a chance to lead a normal life.

We believe that improving the life of a physically disadvantaged child is one of the greatest contributions we can make. Children who have physical disfigurements may suffer from psychological trauma, low self-esteem and isolation.

A FEW OF OUR PATIENTS:

Scalp Reconstruction: A seven year old boy, a victim of parental abuse and burned on his scalp with resulting disfigurement, was recently helped by a CSPS Alliance surgical volunteer. After this surgical reconstructive, his foster parent wrote a very moving and grateful letter: "... the transformation in my son is not just visual, it goes far beyond that: his attitude, his school work and social skills have improved so much. I fear that without your help, the appearance issues facing my son would have continued to undermine his chances of becoming a meaningful contributor to society. With the Alliance's help, my hopes and expectations have soared and one day we'll reap the benefits of your benevolence..."

Pinback Otoplasty:
Sean was elated that his classmates would no longer call him
"dumbo ears"...
after the Alliance arranged for a pinback otoplasty for him.

Cleft Palate & Lip: Jason, had orthodontia following cleft lip and palate surgery. He can now eat apples like other kids.

Birthmark Reduction: Suzy had a surgical reduction of a large cavernous hemangioma on her nose. She is very appreciative of the help the Alliance provided.

Former California Governor Pete Wilson recently stated:
"A child who has been deformed by an accident or disease
should not have to suffer the additional pain of ostracism and humiliation
simply because they cannot afford an alternative."

JOIN THE ALLIANCE:
The Alliance is entirely composed of dedicated volunteers, working toward a common goal of helping children with deformities build a more positive self-image and lead happier, healthier and more productive lives. While similar groups exist to help disfigured children abroad, the Alliance is dedicated solely to the children of California.

Through the generous help of physicians, nurses and hospitals, the medical care for the Alliance children is provided. However, for other ancillary expenses, donations from California Service Organizations and other concerned private citizens who share our goal of improving young lives, is essential. One in every five children presently live in poverty. One in every twelve has a deformity. Your participation in the Alliance is vital. With ongoing cuts in publicly funded services, the number of children in need of support from the California Society of Plastic Surgeons Alliance continues to grow.

CONSIDER YOUR PRIORITIES:
"One hundred years from now it will not matter what your bank account was, the sort of house you lived in or the kind of car you drove...but the world may be different because you were important in the life of a child."

Please consider being a supporting member of the "Alliance"... your compassion could last a lifetime. Send a donation to help give a disfigured child a smile.

To date, the Alliance, a charitable, non-profit 501(c)(3), has made a big difference in the lives of selected California children.

WE THANK YOU ... THE CHILDREN THANK YOU.
